Rome 2019

From May 13, 2019 to May 23, 2019, University of Illinois Architecture Professor Kevin Hinders will be leading a CHP Intercultural Study Tour to Rome!

Join him on this immersion into the history, culture and architecture of Rome, Italy. Rome has been one of the most influential cities in the world over the past 2200 years. Experience the wonders of the Colosseum, Pantheon and the Roman Forum. Visit Saint Peter’s Basilica and attend a papal audience. See the Vatican and its treasures, including the Sistine Chapel. The group will visit the palaces and piazzas including Palazzos Farenese, Massimo alla Colona, the Cancelleria and Piazzas Navona, Rotunda, San Ignazio, the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain while exploring the food, culture and urban environment of the historic city center. Churches such as San Agnese, San Ivo, San Luigi ai Francese and museums will provide access to some of Rome’s greatest works of art. A day trip to Pisa and Florence will give access to additional historic sites while a day trip to Tivoli will enhance the participants’ understanding of the Roman and Italian culture through an experience of the Italian countryside and its villas (Hadrians Villa and the Villa d’Este).
